Here we go again: 🚝 Today I’m travelling from Rotterdam to Zurich, by #train, of course!In my experience, #working while #travelling by train is NOT annoying, distracting, boring etc but… it IS very different to working in the office. You simply need to know how to do it well! ⭐️ And since this isn’t my first rodeo, I’m happy to share some #protips 💯1. ✅ The night before, I make 2 to-do lists: one for deep-focus work and one for quick actions. This gives me the flexibility to switch between tasks depending on my focus, influenced by how busy the train is at that time. 2. 💻 I get an early morning train, which is full of working people. This gets me in the right mindset to work efficiently. As I look around now, I cannot see anyone without a laptop open - it’s like working in a café, but with better views. 3. 📂 In the first 20 mins of my trip (which takes me up to the Dutch boarder with the most optimal internet connection), I download and open ALL the files I need to finish my to-do lists. This way I won’t get frustrated if the connection drops. 4. 🎧 Time to get started! I’m a morning person so I like to get started with the chunky tasks (so, not my inbox) and bring whatever I need to stay focused: headphones, coffee, snacks etc. Sometimes I even turn off my WiFi for better focus. 5. ☀️ I enjoy the journey by taking regular breaks to sip my coffee with my face in the sun, gazing out of the window to observe the landscape changing by the hour, and bond with my neighbour over why we both picked the train and share where we’re both heading. Added bonus today 🙌: I’m changing trains in Paris and (unfortunately- as I initially thought) my connecting train was fully booked. The travel agency proposed that I’d book a #flight for efficiency. But, I figured it would actually be quite cool to work from a Parisian café this afternoon before continuing my trip to Zurich 🇫🇷🥖☕️ What a life! Deloitte #WorldClimate

😵 I’d feel like a #hypocrite if I’d just post about my #sustainable international #train journeys and keep quiet about getting on a #plane. Even though the last flight I boarded was a couple years ago now… it was not an easy choice to book the ticket! And to be honest I’m still not sure how I feel about it. 😕💚 In my work and personal life I’m a strong advocate for positive climate action and responsible behaviours. 🧘♀️ The thing is: I really, really need some “me time” - a place in the sun, meditating and doing yoga to feel more like myself after a challenging personal period and I’m actually quite excited for this little adventure 🙏Though I can’t help feeling #selfish, choosing my own mental #wellbeing over climate impact. Should I have booked a retreat closer to home? Do I really need this holiday? How am I ever going to compensate for the massive amount of flight emissions through my work? ❓Keen to hear: Is anyone else struggling with this?#klimaatspagaat
