US/Washington: As of Wednesday, July 17, 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of fifty-nine (59) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the fifty-nine (59) recalls the NHTSA announced in July comes news of the following:

Kido Sports Co., Ltd. (“Kido Sports”), a Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea establishment has recalled an estimated 47,582 model year Scorpion EXO Covert X and Harley-Davidson HD-X07 Helmets, sizes XS, S, M, L, XL and 2X marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Equipment – Helmets may loosen or detach in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 218

NHTSA Safety Notification 24E054000 reports the Helmets may not stay securely fastened. As such, these Helmets fail to comply with the requirements of US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 218, “Motorcycle Helmets”.

According to the NHTSA, a Motorcycle Helmet that is not securely fastened can come loose or detach, increasing the risk of serious injury and/or life-changing results in the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
A remedy for this reported defect is currently under development. The manufacturer has not yet supplied a notification schedule.

Owners may contact Kido Sports Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-672-6774 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
