US/Washington: As of Friday, July 19, 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of sixty-five (65) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the sixty-five (65) recalls the NHTSA announced in July comes news of the following:
Ford Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 30,735 model year 2022-2023 Ford Mustang Sports Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Steering – Steering Wheel may turn unintentionally
NHTSA Safety Notification 24V528000 reports the Fuel Pump may fail. If this defect occurs in-use, it can result in a loss of drive power.
According to the NHTSA, a Steering Wheel that turns unintentionally can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.
Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Ford Dealers will replace update the Power Steering Control Module (“PSCM”) Software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 5, 2024.
Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Ford’s designation for this recall is 24S44.
